Autumn is here, and Winter is just around the corner, specially in London… it is time to store those shorts and vests and take the jackets, trousers, cozy socks, scarves and everything that I personally love, out!
This is the season in which we can hide all those afternoons that we didn’t go to the gym, and can start eating comfort food in the good company of Netflix.
Scarves are my favourite accessory for the cold, we usually have to wear boring and colourless suits in order to look appropriate for work, but, when outside of the office, who says we can’t spice up our appearance, wearing a nice looking scarf with a plain and “age appropriate” coat can make the difference between looking like a dad, and looking like a fashionable man. be creative! and don’t be afraid to show a little bit of your personality!
I know there are many articles out there about this subject, and shockingly, after a lot of research, I found out they all contradict each other, everyone has its own take on what kind of sunglasses fit each face shape, but are we all that alike?, that they can just divide us into 4 different kind of faces, people seem to think so. My take in glasses is that they are like scarves, there is a lot of variety and all of them seem to fit everyone, and even though I don’t like telling people exactly what to do, there are several guidelines when it comes to glasses, and it’s not just about shapes, but about making your face look better, because we all know, you will never look hotter than when you’re wearing sunglasses.
Because I know you’ve googled our YouTube’d how to know what shape your face is (believe me, there are so many, one more ridiculous than the next one) I know you know what shape your face is, (if not, psssst, go and find out!), I will divide faces in 4 specific shapes, no one will have the exact same shape but you get the idea.
- Heart Shape: The top part of your face is wider than the lower part, some call it triangle shape as well, and because of this shape you need emphasis on the lower part of your face, so don’t buy glasses with big accessories on the top of the frame but, go for geometric shapes with thick and plastic frames. Suggested: Ray-Ban Erika
- Square Shape: You face is full of angles and there’s not difference in length and width, glasses should always contrast and not mimic your shape, this is why you need round glasses with thin frames in order to mark those masculine angles. Suggested: Ray-Ban Aviators
- Oval Shape: your face is longer than it is wide, that is why you need frames to give you width, thick frames will give you definition and the width needed. Suggested: Ray-Ban Wayfarers
- Round Shape: You face is like a circle, a d your sunglasses should thin it down, do not even consider wearing round or square glasses, you need rectangular glasses with thin and light frames. Suggested: Polaroid P4126A
Although some newspapers are saying we are about to have 2 weeks of full summer, which for England is pretty much as good as it gets, it is always sensible and sometimes required to have something to throw on for those days that go from Sahara to Iceland in 2 hours, in my case I always carry an umbrella and a cardigan in my bag, a black cardigan will work literally in any occasion, but since it’s almost 30 degrees outside, let’s play with some other colours!, red, green, grey, Khaki, they will always work for this time of year, mind although, what kind of shirt you are wearing, red and pink; black and brown; blue and purple are big no no’s
Zara’s got a great diversity of cardigans that are sold at around 15.99 GBP at the sale taking place at this very moment:
It is the time of the flowers blossoming, the al fresco dining, picnics, sunbathing at the park and flip flop wearing (unfortunately for some), Florals have been with us for many many years, usually for women in the spring or tacky dads at the beach, but as with everything in fashion, Chavy can become trendy in a runway!, This months GQ UK features a fashion section dedicated to florals and I personally think that with the right accessories it could be very fashionable.
Ben Sherman (bensherman.com) has a great variety of long and short sleeve shirts that would look great on you for this hot months. but at £28.00 TopMan (topman.com) is the clear winner of this topic, they offer a great selection of printed shirts that go from prune to wild, it is your pick after all, here are some examples:
Wear these florals with plain trousers, and light coloured shoes, take some fancy glasses with you and you are good to go!…
Louis Vuitton will always be very dear to my heart, this new collection is lovely inspired in the 70´s with lots of oranges, browns and shapes. Tracksuits seem to be coming back and the trend is clearly for men to wear shorts, Take a look at the runway and marvel yourself with the creations of yet again a great collection, do this to take ideas and inspire yourself when shopping in the high street!
Runways have never dictated exactly how someone should dress, God forbids, it dictates trends, and these are examples of the trends for the next year, complicated patterns, bright colours for men, and even suits with shorts are seen in the Paris Fashion Week, but I’m not suggesting you to buy a pair of shorts and wear them to the office, never in a million years. But what you could do in order to keep up with fashion is to get some new colours and patterns for the summer instead of wearing the full on suit, wear a trendy wool sweater under your suit instead of a shirt and a tie, a wool sweater believe or not is great for the heat since it let your body breath.
